The Metaverse is referred to as a new generation of information technology integration and innovation that will fuel the internet’s growth toward Web3 in the development action plan. The innovation strategy aims to help Beijing develop a digital economy benchmark city by promoting Metaverse-related industries.

To put the action plan into effect, many districts need to first develop city-wide technological infrastructure and then advance its use in various fields including education and tourism. The proposed program would involve integrating 3D visualization and GIS (Geographic Information System) to create a visual urban space digital platform that can be utilized to further intelligent infrastructure development.

The strategy focuses on encouraging the growth of Metaverse-related businesses and assisting Beijing in becoming a global digital economy leader. The action plan requires various cities to build technological infrastructure at the city level and promote its usage in a variety of sectors, including education and tourism.

Over the last few months, two major cities in China have unveiled multi-year action strategies that include the Metaverse and NFTs. The growing interest of China’s government in prominent Web3 technologies may result in greater usage throughout the country, much like its CBDC, which is currently used by millions.
