Developers continue to “struggle under the yoke of centralized platforms,” according to Animoca Brands’ Yat Siu, urging them to move into the Web3 environment. Animoca Brands co-founder and chair Yat Siu has urged more developers to enter the Web3 environment, warning that without “choice” there can be no “decentralized environment.”
At Korean Blockchain Week (KBW) 2022, Sui stated that the necessity for more developers to enter the market provides consumers with more options when it comes to platforms — whether they’re choosing based on “best value” or one they feel most connected to culturally.
Siu stated that while developers have been enthusiastic about constructing software applications, many have still battled against “centralized platforms” such as Apple and Google. He went on to say these companies seeking control force developers to “follow their guidelines.”
Siu noted that many developers lack blockchain experience but are still interested in the technology. He stressed the importance of more developers entering the space to offer Web3 users more options. Siu was asked if blockchain developers should focus more on competition or collaboration. He answered by saying that he doesn’t want any of the projects to do poorly because that would limit user choice.
Rather than a few Web3 projects dominating the market, it would be more sustainable for a variety of them to capture their fair share, according to an Animoca Brands executive. NFTs and gaming are the chosen technologies for allowing nonfungible tokens to do what they were intended to do: create a unique economy.
Animoca Brands is a venture capital firm that focuses on applying nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and gaming in order to develop an open and interoperable Metaverse with the goal of creating a global virtual reality ecosystem.
In 2021, the firm was placed on the Financial Times’ list of High-Growth Companies in the Asia Pacific. Animoca’s most popular gaming titles are Revv Motorsport and Sandbox, which may be accessed using the REVV (REVV) and Sandbox (SAND) tokens, respectively.
