Executives state that jobs are at a high risk of being replaced by automation, but GameFi provides users with a viable alternative to earn money. Australian-based Web3 game studio Ninja Syndicate’s CEO and founder think GameFi could start a new era where people can earn enough money through playing blockchain games.

According to the founders of the company, John Nguyen and CEO Alex Dunmow, jobs are in danger because of advancements in technology like automation. They claim that blockchain games can be a way for people to make income through digital means by playing the game or moving assets. 

The process is often time-consuming but may result in valuable outcomes for the player, unlike many other mainstream video games that they say only feature grinding gameplay with no value gained by the player.

According to Dunmow, one awesome instance of people earning a living through GameFi is from a 2021 study about how during COVID-19, when there was an employment shortage in the low-paying job market, NFT gaming allowed users in the Phillippines to digital assets that they could then take tot he marketplace and sell for either fiat currency or crypto.

Dunmow and Nguyen said that the games they are developing will “subtly educate people about the benefits of NFTs,” which presents a challenge given the current negativity around NFTs and blockchain in gaming. The games are being developed under the Supremacy World ecosystem, where players build, fight, and mine resources within a fictional dystopian world using giant mechs.

Supremacy will eventually comprise four games: a battle arena that is already out, a first-person shooter, a massively multiplayer online game, and a real-time grand strategy game.

With the series of these four interoperable games, the executives said they are creating an ecosystem where players have “sovereign ownership” over their digital assets and can use them in whatever way they want within Supremacy’s borders. However, Nguyen noted that this interoperability also extends to other potential realms such as “other game worlds, DeFi and PFP collection.”

Nguyen said that Supremacy will give people who own an NFT in-game assets located in their world. He continued by adding that they were recently given the chance to design a custom mech skin for a user based on his Bored Ape Yacht Club brand NFT. 

According to Nguyen, he can now connect his Ape and claim his custom skin based on his NFT. Although given the time and resources required, Dunmow mentioned they won’t be able to custom design something for every user, but showed what is possible regardless.
