The Solana blockchain is built into the smartphone, allowing for easy and secure web3 transactions with digital assets like tokens and NFTs.
A Blockchain platform Solana Labs subsidiary, Solana Mobile, has launched the company’s flagship Android mobile phone called “Saga,” which makes cryptocurrency and non-fungible token (NFT) trading simple on smartphones. The smartphone with integrated Solana blockchain functionality makes it simple and secure to trade in web3 and handle digital assets like tokens and NFTs, including smart contracts.
The firm also unveiled ‘Solana Mobile Stack,’ a framework for Android that allows developers to make powerful mobile experiences for wallets and apps on Solana and build a “Secure Element” for private key management.
The Solana Mobile Stack SDK is now available to developers, and Saga is now available for pre-order, with shipping anticipated at the beginning of 2023.
“We chose the Saga name because the narrative of cryptocurrency is still being written,” said Raj Gokal, one of Solana’s co-founders. “This is the next chapter in this story, and we think that opening crypto to mobile will lead to increased adoption, greater knowledge, and more possibilities,” he added. OSOM, a prominent Android development firm with decades of expertise developing computing hardware for Google, Apple, and Intel, designed and produced Saga.
“The future needs innovative hardware to embrace web3, and creating a platform that looks to the future without being weighed down by antiquated legacy ecosystems is extremely gratifying for us,” explained Keats, co-founder, and CEO of OSOM.
